Alaçatı Travel Guide
Alaçatı is one of the most beautiful coastal towns in İzmir. Although I frequently visited the Izmir region, this time I had a sweet excitement on my trip. Because I have never seen Alaçatı before. I found myself in this wonderful place when I persisted myself this time. Alaçatı is very rich in places to visit. After the crossroads at the entrance, there will be three windmills on the hill that greet you first. When you go down from the windmills, the restaurants will meet you on the left. Before you arrive Alaçatı, you should check out car rental in Alaçatı alternatives on Yolcu360 to discover the hidden paradises of the city.
First, I ate Kumru in Kumrucu Şevki. Then I ate ice cream for dessert in the Historic Rumeli Patisserie, which was chosen as one of the top ten ice creamers in our country. One Kumru and one beverage in Kumrucu Şevki costs 15 TL. The best thing to do after dinner will be throwing yourself in the streets of Alaçatı.
The eye-catching stone sidewalks of Alaçatı streets, interesting signs of stone buildings, different door colors, and grafities take people to a different world. You can visit the history witnessed streets of Alaçatı without getting tired for hours like me. You can feel the mystical atmosphere staying from the Greeks who migrated during the population exchange.
You Should Visit This Place in Alaçatı
The most striking place in Alaçatı was the mosque in the town center. It was first built as a church and then converted into a mosque. This place reflects the best example of interfaith tolerance. Today, both Muslims and Christians can worship here under the same roof. When I look from the outside, the interior of the place of worship where I compared its architecture to Hagia Sophia also fascinated me. The stained glass and icons from the church time on the left side of the entrance are very impressive. A big curtain was taken in front of them to prevent any discomfort during the worship of the Muslims. If you happen to pass by here I would say visit it.
Fishes collected from the sea were sold every morning in the auction area of the water cooperative just behind the place of worship. The auction starts at 11.00, you can take a look if you wish. Don’t forget to try the delightful gum mastic pudding of Imren Patisserie on the street on the side of the place of worship. The portion of this unique flavor is 9TL. You will also be interested in the wonderful decor and nostalgic sign of the place. The poems, words, colored doors, and different signs that you will see on the walls and doors on this street will draw your attention as much as I do.
Beautiful Town of the Aegean: Alaçatı
Hacı Memiş district has the most interesting streets of the town. I liked it. You seem to be traveling in time while walking on the cobblestone sidewalks of the neighborhood and watching the stone buildings. If you like taking pictures, this place is for you. Historical buildings on the stone streets, colorfully painted houses, embroidered doors, interestingly decorated shops make this town wonderful. I do not know if I will live here at my retirement, but I will visit often. There are many popular places in the region such as Çeşme and Ephesus. For this reason, it is useful to take a look at the prices for rent a car in Alaçatı on Yolcu360 before setting off. In this way, you will have the opportunity to have a full holiday while traveling around easily. If you are planning to come to İzmir by plane, renting a car at İzmir Adnan Menderes Airport may be a good alternative for you.
